The City of Mississauga made the announcement to build a Major Spectator as a private and public partnership on 70 acres on city owned lands on the north side of Matheson, east of Kennedy Road. The City would provide the land as the public partnership and private on the side of the funding and development. Linda and her P3Sports Entertainment firm http://www.P3Sports.ca created the consortium of partnership in order to submit an "Expression of Interest". P3 Sports Entertainment was established with the main focus towards providing a unique assortment of projects to enhance the development and exposure for players to achieve their dreams and advance to the OHL, QMJHL, NCAA, CIAU and ultimately the NHL. We have a wealth of hockey insight, experience and dedication of Hockey from the grass roots of development to the Show.
MAJOR SPECTATOR SPORTS ARENA AND FACILITY
Mississauga - in 1996 Linda Pinizzotto, Founder of P3 Sports Entertainment and well known Realtor created a consortium of high power corporate firms to submit a proposal for the development of a 70 Million Dollar Major Spectator Sports and Entertainment Facility and Arena, the first of its kind as a Public-Private Ownership with the City of Mississauga. The development would be built on 70 acres of City owned land and would feature a major spectator arena, 3 community rinks, a sports complex, hotel, baseball and soccer fields plus a major hotel chain.
Linda contacted Macklin Hancock of Project Planning to partner with her to prepare the design and submission of interest as a joint principle partnership for presentation to the City of Mississauga. Their submission design would enhance the identity and international image of the City of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The site included a stream of winter garden's collonade, forest canopy with trails for jogging, vita par-cour, leisure walks "keukenhof" style and an entertainment terrace. The future bridge would link to a public gardens and another ice complex directly across the street. This site involved a fountain of pools for the summer transforming to community skating ice rinks in the winter. Visual Axis to the site from major highways 403 and 410 were an added benefit.
Linda's dream was the create a consortium with a WIN-WIN situation because the complex was intended to be a debt free facility. Public Shares were to be arrange by Richard Devenney, Attorney of Keyser Mason Ball working with Canadian Corporate Funding. Residents of the City of Mississauga would purchase a share at a local financial institution. Mr. Mike McGee, Chairman of the Board for LMI, Leisure Management International accepted the position of Management company for the Complex and Sports Venues to team up with the Entertainment side with P3 Sports who would oversee venues and special events.
Leisure Management International began operations in 1986 and is one of the premier management companies in the industry. A partnership of four well-known industry leaders, these joint owners represent a combination of industry experience, business acumen and financial resources that are unique in the industry. Together these business leaders' resources stretch in excess of $1 billion. Chairman of the Board - Mike McGee, H. Wayne Huizenga - Chairman of the Board, CEO and Stockholder of Huizenga Holdings, Inc. (Blockbuster Entertainment), Douglas Schnitzer - CEO and founding partner partner of Senterra Development and Morton Cohn - Founder of Houston Warner Cable Franchise and Cash America. LMI as an industry leader is the firm representing NHL Nashville Arena and several other major spectator arenas with well over 20,000 seating capacity throughout the United States.
Scott Abbot, Founder of Trivial Pursuit agreed to the ownership of the Mississauga OHL Franchise in the event that Mississauga received approval from the OHL. P3 Sports would join in with a part ownership. Douglas Kilner, President of Orlando Corporation were negotiation with P3 Sports to build the $30,000,000 Arena complex at cost because they were keen on working with the City of Mississauga on the Heartland Property.

The concept of a Private Public partnership was cancelled by City Council. They used Tax Payers monies to build the complex. they received little money to name it The Hershey Centre. A City Revenue statement would show may years of it being publicly subsidized. Today the complex is named the Paramount Fine Foods Centre and remains owned by the City.

About the P3 Sports Blue Chip Showcase
She created and financed a showcase called the P3 Sports Blue Chip Showcase to help young aspiring athletes an opportunity to be drafted in the OHL. It was the first Tournament in the History of Hockey to be sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Association, Junior A, Junior B, Junior C and Junior D Development Leagues and the Ontario Minor Hockey Association to allow their draft eligible players to play in the Tournament over a 3 day period.
Blue Chip Showcase Custom Logo
The showcase was sanctioned by the OHA and OHL and also accepted into the NHL Master Schedule each of the following years, 1st year Stoney Creek, 2nd Mississauga where Mayor Hazel McCallion dropped the puck and the final showcase in Gravenhurst, Ontario. Dozens of young aspiring athletes were able to open doors at this showcase which has now lead them to professional hockey careers. Every OHL Team was represented at the Showcase plus Scouts from the NHL Teams. Insurance and Referees were provided by the Ontario Hockey Association at cost. Linda secured sponsorships through CCM for the jerseys, socks and refreshments were sponsored by Tim Hortons and Pizza Pizza. The participants or spectators entry costs was FREE. Many NHL players played in the P3 Sports Blue Chip Showcase.
